Arthur E. Beck, Esq.

Arthur E. Beck, Esq. will be presenting in a seminar entitled "Hiring and Firing in Wisconsin - How to do it right!" scheduled for July 30, 2008. The presentation is taking place at the Residence Inn Milwaukee Downtown located at 648 N. Plankinton Avenue, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Registration starts in person at 8:00 a.m. and presentation is from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 -p.m. Lunch (on your own) from 12 - 1. This seminar will focus on the latest information regarding avoidance of discrimination in hiring; setting permissible employment conditions; keeping proper personnel records; how to conduct proper terminations; correct handling of privacy and disclosure issues; meeting new immigration law requirements and how to establish effective personnel policies and handbooks, plus much more.

The seminar has been approved by the Wisconsin Board of Bar Examiners for 8.0 credit hours.

Award - Associate of the Year

Barry Chaet, Esq.

Barry Chaet, Esq., President of the law firm Beck, Chaet, Bamberger & Polsky, S.C., has been honored with the 2007 Associate of the Year award by the WIA. The WIA Associate of the Year Award annually recognizes one person who services Wisconsin's lodging industry in an exemplary manner. Chaet currently serves as the WIA's legal counsel and is a member of the association's Board of Directors. Chaet regularly fields legal questions from the WIA's membership base, and advises the association on pressing legal matters that directly impact the industry. In addition to his involvement with the WIA, Chaet sits on the Board of Directors of the Greater Milwaukee Hotel-Motel Association (GMHMA), and is a member of the Academy of Hospitality Industry Attorneys (AHIA), a national organization comprised of attorneys who represent clients and associations in the hospitality industry. For the third consecutive year, Chaet received a Super Lawyer award, as voted by his peers in the Milwaukee area and published in Milwaukee Magazine. Beck, Chaet, Bamberger & Polsky, S.C. has also received the highest rating as a Preeminent Law Firm given by Martindale-Hubbell. For his service to the hospitality industry, Chaet also earned a special commendation from Gov. Jim Doyle.

New Appointment -
E. Vanessa Jones, Esq.
Vanessa Jones was recently appointed to the Board of Directors of Volunteer Services for the Visually Handicapped, Inc. ("VSVH"), one of Milwaukee's oldest service agencies, which provides quality Braille and audio-format transcriptions of materials not available from other sources. VSVH promotes literacy and self-sufficiency for persons who have visual and learning disabilities through a unique partnership with the Milwaukee Central Library and the Wisconsin Regional Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped.
New Appointment
Marie L. Nienhuis, Esq.
Marie Nienhuis was recently appointed (October, 2007) to the MBA Board of Directors. Marie has practiced in the areas of bankruptcy, creditors' rights and litigation for the past 17 years. Marie joined BCBP in May of this year working closely with Michael Polsky in the area of debtor/creditor relations.
