About

Mike is a Shareholder and Director at Beck, Chaet, Bamberger & Polsky, S.C., serving as the chair of the firm’s Business Receiverships & Restructuring practice, which includes three lawyers and a full-time paralegal.

For the better part of the last 25 years Mike has acted as Court-appointed Receiver pursuant to Chapter 128 of the Wisconsin Statutes in approximately 335 separate proceedings throughout Wisconsin.  Notably, Mike acted as Court-appointed Receiver for James Cape & Sons Company, which had approximately $150 million of debt at the time the case was commenced, First Place Milwaukee, LLC, which had over $60 million of debt at the time the case was filed, and Metropolitan Place Phase II in Madison, which had over $30 million of debt at the time the case was filed.  In addition, Mike has acted as a Trustee pursuant to confirmed Chapter 11 Plans and is was a Receiver in an SEC Enforcement Action involving a Ponzi Scheme.

Mike is a 1980 graduate of Marquette University Law School and graduated from the University of Wisconsin Madison School of Business in 1977, majoring in real estate and urban land economics.  Mr. Polsky has 43 years of experience representing debtors, lenders, creditors, and other parties in bankruptcy proceedings, state court insolvency proceedings and out of court restructuring matters, has been named a “Super Lawyer” the last thirteen years, and has been  listed for the last eleven years in the Best Lawyers in America.  He is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, Milwaukee Bar Association, and the State of Wisconsin Bar Association.
